Training Centre Coach
Alex Tonge is a Canadian professional forward celebrated for his offensive prowess and today serves as a featured coach with RELM Sports Academy. A 5’10”, 172‑lb left‑shooter, Tonge began his hockey journey with his hometown Kingston Voyageurs in the OJHL, posting an impressive 156 points over 157 regular‑season games and another 64 playoff points in 52 contests; his standout 2014–15 season earned him OJHL Second All‑Star Team honors and a spot on Canada East at the World Junior A Challenge. He continued his scoring dominance at Robert Morris University, appearing in 146 NCAA games and amassing 138 points—including back-to-back 44-point seasons in 2016–17 and 2017–18—while also securing Atlantic Hockey Association all‑academic recognition and serving as an alternate captain .
Turning pro, Tonge had stints in the ECHL with the Florida Everblades, Adirondack Thunder, and Norfolk Admirals, where he combined grit and skill to total 104 points over 118 games. He then embraced a European journey, excelling in Germany’s DEL2 and Sweden’s Allsvenskan before signing with the Dundee Stars of the UK’s Elite Ice Hockey League for the 2024–25 season—and was described as a “danger every time he is on the ice,” particularly on the power play.
Off the ice, Tonge brings his wealth of experience to RELM Hockey Development Centre, where he serves as a featured coach in their HDC development program. With a background that stretches from junior and NCAA success to professional leagues in North America and Europe, and now coaching, Alex Tonge is a passionate mentor dedicated to nurturing the next generation of scoring talent at our facility.
