UPSHL Permier Head Coach
Mark Major is a towering and tenacious former professional left winger who has successfully transitioned into coaching, now serving as the head coach of the Kingston Wranglers in the USPHL Premier. Drafted 25th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1988, Major had a long professional playing career known for his physical style, racking up over 4,300 penalty minutes across more than 1,300 games in leagues such as the AHL, IHL, and ECHL. He also appeared in two NHL games with the Detroit Red Wings during the 1996–97 season. His junior career included standout seasons with the Kingston Raiders/Centennials, where his gritty leadership became a hallmark of his play.
After retiring from pro hockey, Major brought his passion to the bench, coaching the Amherstview Jets Junior A team to two championships over four seasons and later supporting youth development with the Kingston Ice Wolves Peewee AA team. In 2023–24, he took the helm as head coach of the Kingston Wranglers during their inaugural season in the USPHL Premier, helping to establish the program’s identity and laying the foundation for future success.
