Following a busy weekend of tournament action and NAPHL showcases, we caught up with the Kingston Wranglers’ ownership and coaching staff to get their post-game reactions. From the executive box to the bench, the message is consistent: the culture is strong, and the development is undeniable.
🗣️ The View from the Top: Ryan Thompson
Wranglers Owner Ryan Thompson was on-site for the NAPHL showcases, getting a firsthand look at how the organization stacks up against elite competition.
Thompson: “I spent the weekend watching our NAPHL teams, and I have to say, I am incredibly proud. The development curve we are seeing—not just team-by-team, but in every single player—is outstanding. They are competing hard, and the work they are putting in during the week is showing up in these big moments.”
⚡ 14U Update: Leadership & Buy-In
The energy around the 14U squad is shifting, largely driven by the man behind the bench. Reports from the weekend highlight the infectious enthusiasm of the 14U Head Coach.
“There is a real sense of buy-in with the 14U group right now. The team has been showing a lot of pride and enthusiasm, and you can see it reflected in the athletes. When the coach leads with that kind of energy, the players follow, and that leadership dynamic was on full display this weekend.”
🧠 16U Update: Communication & Adjustments
For Head Coach Chad Duchesne and the 16U Wranglers, the weekend’s success wasn’t just about physical play—it was about hockey IQ and communication.
Coach Duchesne: “What I was most proud of was the communication, both on and off the ice. It wasn’t just noise; it was productive. After a broken play, instead of frustration, I saw players coming back to the bench talking about improvements. They were discussing how to make adjustments, how to connect better, and how to capitalize on their chances. That’s the maturity we want to see.”
🌟 Lady Wranglers: Huge Strides in Laval
Head Coach CJ Madison returned from the Lady Wranglers’ two-game stint in Laval, Quebec, beaming with pride regarding the team’s trajectory.
Coach Madison: “I came back from Laval excited. Honestly, this is the best hockey we have played all season. We are making huge strides. It wasn’t just about the final scores; it was about the ‘mini successes’ we had on the ice and off the ice. The effort was there, and the growth is real.”
