Jr Chowder Cup RELM Recap - Day 3
Our Chowder Cup team closed out Round Robin play this afternoon in a tilt against Strong Island Ice Hockey in a winner moves on matchup.

The boys would unfortunately come out slow to start the game finding themselves running around and consequently going down 1-0 with 19:17 left to play in the period. A couple of bad bounces and misplays would see the squad drop another 2 goals with 5:30 left in the first period. A RELM time out would give the boys a second to regroup and refocus as they knew to move forward they were now going to have to battle back into the game and take over. The first cut into the 3-goal deficit would finally come at 2:15 left on a 5th chance rebound effort as #18 Caiden Chase would bang home his third of the tournament to close out the first period down 3-1.

During intermission, a strong speech and seeing their opposition slacking off and acting like the game was over, would turn out to be exactly what the boys needed to come out of the gates flying. It would take under 3 minutes for them to cut the lead to 1 as Chase once again would light the lamp for his 4th of the tournament. The boys not backing down and keeping the train rolling would tie the game a 1:30 later on the PowerPlay as #98 Jordy Mayo would net his 1st and give the boys more life in the game. Still keeping the pressure high and controlling the flow of the game, they would be rewarded again 5 minutes after taking their first lead with 15:52 left in the game as #25 Carson Caddick would pot his 3rd of the tournament. After more back and forth hockey, Strong Island would come back to tie the game with 8:20 remaining. With Strong Island needing to win to advance they would pull the goalie with 2 minutes left in the game, and despite most of it being played in the defensive end, our tie-dye heroes would hold out to take the 4-4 draw at the final buzzer.

But with the boys finishing with the better goal differential they will now move on to the Quarter-Finals tomorrow morning at 8:00am where it looks like they will see the Rhode Island Rebels!
