2023 Northumberland Nemesis Clash Tournament Rules

 
Team Managers are asked to register their team at least 45 minutes prior to the start of their first tournament game.

Rules

  1. OLA regulations will govern all games with the following additional rules for the tournament operation.
  2. Team must register at the Tournament Office prior to their first game.  Teams are to present their Approved Roster, Coach, and Player Cards at check-in.
  3. Only players on the approved roster are eligible to play in the tournament.
  4. Each team consists of a minimum of 6 players (5 runners and 1 goaltender) and a maximum of 20 players (18 runners and 2 goaltenders). MR4.01, LC Rule 14      
  5. Each team will consist of a minimum of 2 bench staff (one certified coach and one certified trainer) and a maximum of 5 bench staff (four certified coaches and one certified trainer). MR2.12    
  6. Invitational Tournaments and Provincial championships are structured by category levels (A, B, C, D, etc.) and teams are placed into the schedule based on their MyLAX rating. In situations where an association has more than one team participating within an age category, the appropriate team number must be clearly indicated on the playing schedule and the game sheet. MR7.02(a) 
  7. In the event that a Box game must be called due to floor conditions or unforeseen circumstances the game shall be considered ‘final’ if two (2) complete periods of play have transpired. If two periods have not been completed the remainder of the game must be rescheduled and played. MR7.07(b)
  8. Teams must be prepared to play up to 15 minutes before their schedules start time.
  9. Home jerseys will be white (or lighter colour). If a colour conflict arises, the home team will be asked to wear their alternate set. If the home team does not have an alternate set, the visiting team will be asked to wear their alternate set.
  10. No time outs in the preliminary games. One 30 second time out per team, per game, in all playoff games.
  11. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to make decisions regarding interpretation of the rules, objections and protests. All decisions are final.
  12. There will be no protests entertained on referee’s decisions. All other decisions on rules, protests and conduct will be made by the Tournament Committee and are final.
  13. It is the responsibility of the coaches and team officials to ensure that there are 2 team officials (or designated parents) in the dressing room with the players at all times, from the time the players enter the room to the last player leaving. Dressing rooms are to be cleared, inspected and keys left in the dressing room door within 30 minutes of the game ending. The bench and dressing room is to be cleaned by departing team. Any damage found by arriving team is to be reported to the tournament office. Any damages that occur will be the responsibility of the team and bills for damages will be assessed and could result in the team being expelled from the balance of the tournament.
  14. Game duration: games will be 3 fifteen-minute periods, stop time in the last 2 minutes of the 3rd period with 3 minute intermissions.
  15. Pre-game Warm-Ups: The warm up will 3 minutes.
  16. The handshake will take place at the beginning of the game.
  17. The tournament photographer is authorized to access to the player bench and penalty box to take photographs during play, the photographer assumes all liability.

Tournament Suspensions

  1. The Ontario Lacrosse Association’s Automatic Discipline Policy is in effect for all participants (players, bench personnel, volunteers) of the U9 and U11 divisions of OLA box lacrosse, whether or not the team’s participants are “dressed” for the game or event, when attending any OLA-sanctioned events. All fines and suspensions are automatic once they have been recorded on the OLA game sheet and signed off by the officials. It is the sole responsibility of the penalized team to adhere to the OLA’s Automatic Minor Discipline Policy throughout the entire season; regardless of whether or not the team has been formally notified by zone or tournament representatives.

Tie Breaker

  1. In the event of a tie in points between two teams, the final standings shall be determined as follows:
    1. The team that won the greater number of points in games played, during the competition, between the teams tied shall be declared the winner of the higher position. (HEAD TO HEAD)
    2. If tie still exists, the Goal Average Formula will be used to break the tie. All goals scored in the games during the competition shall be used in the goal average computation. The Goal Average Formula is defined as Goals For divided by Goals For plus Goals Against. The team with the closest goal average to 1.0 is declared the winner
    3. If a tie still exists, the team with least penalties in minutes in all Round Robin games played shall be declared the winner. In the case where the teams have not played the same number of games, the lowest average of the penalties in minutes in all Round Robin games shall be used to declare the winner.
    4. If a tie still exists, then a coin toss will decide the winner.
  2. In the event of a tie in points between more than two teams, the final standings shall be determined as follows:
    1. The team(s) that won the greater number of points in games played during the competition, between the team(s), tied shall be declared the winner of the higher position (HEAD TO HEAD TO HEAD).

All goals scored in the games played between the tied teams during the competition shall be used in the goal average computation. The Goal Average Formula is defined as Goals For divided by Goals For plus Goals Against. The team with the closest goal average to 1.0 is declared the winner
    3. If tie still exists, the Goal Average Formula will be used to break the tie. All goals scored in all games played during the competition shall be used in the goal average computation. The Goal Average Formula is defined as Goals For divided by Goals For plus Goals Against. The team with the closest goal average to 1.0 is declared the winner
    4. If a tie still exists, the team with least penalties in minutes in all Round Robin games played shall be declared the winner. In the case where the teams have not played the same number of games, the lowest average of the penalties in minutes in all Round Robin games shall be used to declare the winner.
    5. If a tie still exists, then a coin toss will decide the winner.

     

Overtime Rules

  1. In the event of a tie in round-robin format competition, there are no overtime periods (i.e. a tie game will stand). In the event of a qualifying game (quarter or semi-finals) the game continues with 10 minute stop time periods of sudden victory (the first goal declares the winner). Before the overtime periods, there will be a 3 minute intermission.
  2. In the event of a tie in a championship game, the game will continue with a full 10- minute stop time period. If the score remains tied at the end of the first overtime period, the game continues with a 10 minute stop time periods of sudden victory (the first goal declares the winner) until a goal is scored. Before any overtime period, there will be a 3 minute intermission. Teams will not change ends.
