2013 RELM Recap - Sunshine Cup Day 1
The 2013 RELM team opened up tournament play with 2 games yesterday. Want to know how they did? Well here's the recap!
The 2013 RELM squad coached by Columbus Blue Jackets prospects Nolan Lalonde and Joey Musa had a shakey start but an even better finish. The squads first game didn't go as planned going down 6-0 headed late into the second period but the boys refused to quit and spoiled the shutout making it 6-1. Unfortunately, the Atlantic Prospect team's pressure would prove to be too much as the 2013's lost the game 19-1.
However, the boys would look to bounce back in game 2 at 12:45 vs Florida Wild. The team went down 1-0 early into the game but they refused to have a repeat of the morning game and tied it up quickly 1-1. The Wild kept pressure high as they went up 2-1 but yet again the boys didn't quit tying it up 2-2. The Wild still didn't go away this time taking the lead in the third period 3-2, but with the help of a powerplay the 2013 RELM squad yet again tied the bout 3-3. The team decided they had enough of chasing the game and really laid on the pressure taking their first lead of the game going up 6-3. The Wild tried for a final push getting one back but after an empty net goal the 2013's would take this one 7-4.
Coach Nolan Lalonde said "I was really impressed by this group of kids in our second game, we realized we weren't playing as one after our first game and they came alive for game two looking like a totally different team. We hope to keep this going tomorrow as the boys know what we need to do and what happens when we work as one"
The team is hoping to do just that when they're back in action today at 7:45 am vs Tampa Selects and later at 11:45 am vs Florida Wild!
